What is "SMI"?
SMI stands for "Summer Manufacturing Institute," which is a collection of STEM-to-career summer camps for 5th-8th grade students. At Camp, students learn about the connections between STEM concepts and in-demand manufacturing careers. Campers will complete hands-on projects, meet industry experts, tour local manufacturing facilities, meet company CEOs, and much more! The goal of the camp is to expose young people to in-demand manufacturing careers.
Hours of Operation: SMI camp operated from Monday-Thursday from 9 am - 3 pm and Friday 9 am - 12 pm. On Friday, we have a special luncheon at AWT from 11 am -12 pm where parents, donors, and staff can see what the campers have learned.
Lake & Geauga Co. Summer Manufacturing Institute is sponsored by the Alliance for Working Together (AWT) Foundation in collaboration with OhioMeansJobs Geauga Co., Auburn Career Center, and various industry partners.
